“Graphic designer by day, hobbyist photographer by night.”
Starting out my professional career working in the IT field, mainly fixing computers and troubleshooting network issues, I knew that wasn’t the type of work I wanted to continue for the rest of my life. There was no way for me to express my creative side. I even remember being at work and sneaking in some time to create flyers and websites when I was really supposed to be fixing co-workers computers.
Once I moved back to North Carolina to be with family, I decided to go back to school to be a graphic designer and that is when I paid special attention to photography. I have probably watched every YouTube video on photography to teach myself photography. I got my first DSLR, the Sony A200, and started learning on that. It was a great start camera but I quickly noticed I couldn’t do all the cool things that other photographers were doing. That is when I upgraded to a Canon T2i. I learned most of my photography knowledge using that basic entry-level DSLR. I took that camera with my everywhere and used it for about 5 years. Now, I shoot with a Canon 6D and couldn’t be happier.
I started PictureMonk because I know how hard it can be to learn everything photography has to offer. I want to help other beginning photographers out there know the good things to learn and what things to stay away from. If you have any photography questions that I haven’t answered yet, please email me! I would love to talk to you.
